For the lovers of nature, in May 2010 in the Insugherata Natural Reserve the sentiero del Picchio (literally the “Path of the Woodpecker”) was inaugurated.
In the
Veio Park, just before the Archaeological Area entrance, there is the
Fosso del Piordo, straight after passing an old watermill which worked until 1950. Due to a nice little waterfall, this place is really striking. That’s why in the 70s the director Luigi Comencini chose this place as the setting for his
film "Pinocchio"; the farmhouse became the Red Crawfish Inn where Pinocchio was dragged by the fox and the cat. Maybe you can find some golden coins which Pinocchio sowed so as to make them become a tree…
